London to Goodwood by helicopter
Thirty minutes over the South Downs from Battersea onto the aerodrome apron beside the motor circuit — the alternative to three hours on the A3 and the A286 into Chichester on Revival Saturday.
A helicopter from London to Goodwood takes about 30 minutes from Battersea Heliport and lands at Goodwood Aerodrome (EGHR), the licensed airfield immediately alongside the motor circuit. Indicative pricing is from £2,500 one-way and around £4,200 for a same-day return in a four-to-six seat twin, before VAT and event fees. Saturday is the peak day at Revival and the Festival of Speed.

Where you take off in London
The standard central-London departure for Goodwood weekends, with a private lounge, screening and car drop-off. Arrive 15 minutes before the slot. The routing tracks south-west over Surrey and the Downs, so low cloud on the ridge is the one weather factor worth watching on a September morning.
Often overlooked for Sussex, but the run along the south side is the same 30 minutes as Battersea and the ground leg from Kent and south-east London is far shorter. Full FBO facilities for jet connections.
Twenty minutes to the aerodrome and the fastest option for guests arriving into London by private jet the same day. The helicopter positions on the FBO apron for an airside handover.
Where you land at Goodwood
Goodwood arrivals land at Goodwood Aerodrome (EGHR), the licensed airfield immediately alongside the motor circuit, with a short marshalled transfer to the Paddock, the Earls Court Motor Show and the hospitality enclosures. Rotary movements are slot-controlled across event weekends, and the Downs around the estate are protected — landing anywhere other than the aerodrome, or an approved private site with landowner and district-council consent, is not possible. Goodwood House and estate landings are arranged case by case with prior written permission.
Timing the day from London
- Land 60 minutes before the first race you want to watch — apron to Paddock, including accreditation, runs 15–20 minutes.
- Saturday is the saturated day at both Revival and the Festival of Speed; Friday and Sunday morning slot easily at short notice.
- Book inbound and outbound together — Sunday departures are sequenced and the final aircraft can hold 30–45 minutes.
- Revival period dress means garment bags and hat boxes: flag them at quote stage so the operator sizes for baggage volume, not just weight.
- South-coast sea fog and low cloud on the Downs occasionally delay morning slots, so we build a 60-minute buffer and hold a road fallback from Chichester.
Goodwood helicopter questions
About 30 minutes from Battersea Heliport or Biggin Hill, 32 from Northolt and 20 from Farnborough. Driving down the A3 and A286 on Revival Saturday commonly turns a two-hour trip into three or more.
Indicatively from £2,500 one-way from Battersea and around £4,200 for a same-day return in a four-to-six seat twin, before VAT, landing and event fees. Farnborough is cheaper at about £2,300 one-way because the leg is shorter.
At Goodwood Aerodrome (EGHR), the licensed airfield next to the motor circuit, under event slot control with a marshalled transfer to the Paddock and hospitality. Landings elsewhere on the estate or the surrounding Downs need prior landowner and council consent and are rarely granted on event weekends.
Yes. The same aerodrome, the same slot process and the same London departure points apply in July and in spring, with different slot pressure. Tell us the weekend and we quote against that event's slot windows.
Battersea for central London, Biggin Hill for Kent and the south-east, and Farnborough when the group is connecting from a private jet. All three are within 20–30 minutes' flying of the aerodrome.
Three to six weeks for Revival Saturday and Festival of Speed Saturday; a week or less is usually fine for Friday and Sunday morning arrivals.

Flying in for Goodwood? Each gateway handles the handover differently — Stansted and Gatwick can put you on the aircraft airside, while Heathrow and London City need a short car leg to a heliport first.
