Where you take off in London
Twelve minutes from the Downs and the only licensed commercial heliport in London. Because the flight is so short, the Battersea ground leg is usually the longest part of the day — leave Mayfair 45 minutes before the slot on Derby Saturday.
Handles helicopters alongside jets with a full FBO, which makes it the sensible choice for parties arriving into London by air the same morning, or for guests already in Kent and the south-east.

Where you land at Epsom Downs
Epsom Downs operates a temporary event helipad inside the racecourse across Derby weekend, under approved arrangements with marshalling and pre-booked slot times, a short walk from the Queen's Stand and the Duchess's Stand enclosures. Landing anywhere else on the Downs — common land in daily public use — is not permitted, and the pad closes to unbooked arrivals once the crowd builds. Fairoaks Airport (EGTF), 15 minutes by car, is the fallback.
Timing the day from London
- Derby Day is a single-afternoon peak: pad slots concentrate between 11:30 and 13:30, and they are gone weeks before the road traffic starts.
- Land 90 minutes before the Derby itself if you are in hospitality — badge collection and the walk from the pad take longer than the flight.
- Because the leg is only 10–15 minutes, day-return pricing usually assumes the aircraft repositions rather than waits; waiting on the Downs costs more and needs pad space.
- The Oaks on Friday is materially easier to book than the Derby on Saturday, at the same flight time.
- Late-afternoon returns to Battersea are within noise hours, so unlike Silverstone or Cheltenham there is rarely a curfew problem.
