Getting from the terminal to the aircraft
RAF Northolt (EGWU) — about 15 minutes by car from the Heathrow terminals and the closest lift-off point. Civil slots are released by the station, so we confirm them early in the event week and hold a fallback.
Denham Aerodrome (EGLD) — roughly 25 minutes by car, unrestricted for rotary and a practical choice when Northolt slots are unavailable.
Battersea Heliport (EGLW) — about 30–45 minutes by car depending on traffic. Worth it when guests are stopping in central London first, not as a pure connection.
A meet-and-greet driver holds airside-adjacent at the terminal or at the FBO for private arrivals, so the party moves bags once.
Timing the connection
- Allow 60–75 minutes from wheels-down at Heathrow to helicopter lift-off: immigration and bags, the car leg, then 15 minutes of handling at the heliport.
- For private jet arrivals into the Heathrow FBO, the same handover runs in about 45 minutes because bags clear on the apron.
- Book the outbound slot at the same time as the inbound — event pads sequence departures and the last aircraft out can hold 30–70 minutes.
- Northolt slot confirmation typically lands three to five days out, so we always brief a Denham or Battersea alternative on Heathrow itineraries.
- Late returns after Battersea's noise hours route to Northolt or Denham instead, with the car leg back to the Heathrow hotels.
