Helicopter transfers to Rioja wine estates
Rioja works as a day trip from Bilbao or San Sebastián. The architecture-led bodegas are spread over a wide valley, so a helicopter buys back most of a driving day.

How access actually works
Flights arrive at Logroño Agoncillo (RJL) or an authorised bodega site, roughly 25 minutes from Bilbao / Logroño Agoncillo. Estates are then reached by a short car leg unless the property holds an approved landing site of its own.
Direct landing at a private property is only possible subject to landing permissions, suitable landing infrastructure, local regulation and operator approval. Where it is not available, we fly to the nearest approved helipad or airport and coordinate the final leg by car or tender.

Planning notes
- Spanish AESA permission applies to off-airfield landings.
- Most visits run Logroño plus short car legs.
- Season: April–October, harvest in September.
- Tastings are appointment-only at this level — confirm estate times before fixing the flight plan.
Frequently asked questions
Can you reach Rioja wine estates by helicopter?
Yes. The practical landing point is Logroño Agoncillo (RJL) or an authorised bodega site, roughly 25 minutes from Bilbao / Logroño Agoncillo, with a short car leg to the estate itself.
Can a helicopter land at the winery itself?
Only where the estate holds a suitable site and the necessary approvals. Direct landing at a private property is only possible subject to landing permissions, suitable landing infrastructure, local regulation and operator approval. Where it is not available, we fly to the nearest approved helipad or airport and coordinate the final leg by car or tender.
How long does the flight from Bilbao / Logroño Agoncillo take?
About 25 minutes airborne. The road alternative is 1h15–2h by road from bilbao or san sebastián.
How much does a winery helicopter day cost?
It is quoted per mission. The main drivers are aircraft type, number of sectors, ground waiting time between estates, landing fees and crew duty — so we price the specific itinerary rather than a headline rate.
Can you visit several estates in one day?
Yes, that is the usual reason to fly. Three short sectors with the aircraft waiting on the ground is a common shape; more than that starts to run into crew duty limits.
Which estates or sub-regions does this cover?
Haro, Elciego, Laguardia, plus neighbouring appellations reachable within the same day.
When is the best time to fly here?
April–October, harvest in September.
