Helicopter transfers to Bolgheri & Chianti wine estates

Tuscany is the most established European wine region for helicopter visits: estates are rural, tastings are appointment-only, and the driving time between Bolgheri, Montalcino and Chianti kills a single-day itinerary.

How access actually works

Flights arrive at Florence, Pisa, Siena Ampugnano or an authorised estate field, roughly 25 minutes from Florence Peretola (FLR) / Pisa (PSA). Estates are then reached by a short car leg unless the property holds an approved landing site of its own.

Direct landing at a private property is only possible subject to landing permissions, suitable landing infrastructure, local regulation and operator approval. Where it is not available, we fly to the nearest approved helipad or airport and coordinate the final leg by car or tender.

Planning notes

  • Multi-estate days work best as three short sectors with the aircraft waiting on the ground.
  • Temporary landing sites need estate consent plus operator survey.
  • Season: April–October, with harvest visits in September.
  • Tastings are appointment-only at this level — confirm estate times before fixing the flight plan.

Frequently asked questions

Can you reach Bolgheri & Chianti wine estates by helicopter?
Yes. The practical landing point is Florence, Pisa, Siena Ampugnano or an authorised estate field, roughly 25 minutes from Florence Peretola (FLR) / Pisa (PSA), with a short car leg to the estate itself.
Can a helicopter land at the winery itself?
Only where the estate holds a suitable site and the necessary approvals. Direct landing at a private property is only possible subject to landing permissions, suitable landing infrastructure, local regulation and operator approval. Where it is not available, we fly to the nearest approved helipad or airport and coordinate the final leg by car or tender.
How long does the flight from Florence Peretola (FLR) / Pisa (PSA) take?
About 25 minutes airborne. The road alternative is 1h30–2h30 by road from florence to bolgheri or the val d'orcia.
How much does a winery helicopter day cost?
It is quoted per mission. The main drivers are aircraft type, number of sectors, ground waiting time between estates, landing fees and crew duty — so we price the specific itinerary rather than a headline rate.
Can you visit several estates in one day?
Yes, that is the usual reason to fly. Three short sectors with the aircraft waiting on the ground is a common shape; more than that starts to run into crew duty limits.
Which estates or sub-regions does this cover?
Bolgheri, Montalcino, Chianti Classico, Val d'Orcia, plus neighbouring appellations reachable within the same day.
When is the best time to fly here?
April–October, with harvest visits in September.
