Santos Basin helicopter charter

The Santos Basin is a long-sector offshore environment: pre-salt production and drilling units sit far enough offshore that range, fuel reserves and payload trade-offs — not schedule preference — decide what a mission looks like. Helicopter access is the normal way people reach those units. SkyMatch sources project and ad-hoc missions with suitable independent licensed operators; the operator and the installation confirm feasibility.

Helicopter sourcing for Santos Basin pre-salt operations: staging bases, long over-water sectors, FPSO and drillship transfers, executive and engineering visits, payload rules and per-mission pricing.

Staging: Rio de Janeiro area and southern coastal bases serve the basin; the practical departure point depends on the unit's position and fuel planning.
Long over-water sectors mean heavier offshore-configured aircraft and tighter payload arithmetic than shorter Campos-area work.
Typical missions: commissioning and start-up teams, class and regulatory inspection, subsea and EPC project engineers, urgent specialist mobilisation, executive and partner site visits, drillship and support-vessel transfers.
Waiting time on the unit is normal for inspection and executive missions and is planned and priced as part of one continuous charter.
Passenger certification — offshore survival, medical and induction — is set by the duty holder and is frequently the longest lead item, ahead of the aircraft.
Weather, deck motion criteria and daylight can stand a mission down; the operator and installation hold that decision.
Priced per mission and per aircraft, never per seat — aircraft category, total flight time including positioning, offshore or remote configuration, crew, waiting and standby, fuel logistics, landing and handling fees, permits, equipment and season are the drivers.
Missions are coordinated in Portuguese, English or Spanish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — that is how people normally get there — subject to an appropriately ranged, offshore-configured aircraft being available, deck approval and weather. The distance offshore is the central planning constraint and shapes both aircraft choice and payload.

Rio de Janeiro area and southern coastal bases are the realistic options. The right one depends on the unit's position, fuel planning and where uncommitted offshore-configured aircraft actually are on your dates.

It depends on the aircraft, the sector length and the required fuel and survival equipment. Long pre-salt sectors trade passengers against fuel, so declared weights matter more here than on short coastal work. SkyMatch confirms the final manifest.

The installation and its duty holder, not SkyMatch and not the passenger. Deck certification, helideck status, manifesting, passenger certification such as offshore survival and medical requirements, and the final go/no-go all sit with the operator and the installation. We plan around those approvals rather than assuming them.

Often yes, within payload and dangerous-goods rules and subject to the operator's manifest sign-off. Weights, dimensions, packaging and any DG classification frequently change which aircraft is suitable, so send them with the request rather than at the end.

Priced per mission — request current operator options. There is no published fare for this kind of work. The quote is built from aircraft category, sector time in both directions, positioning, offshore or remote configuration, crew, waiting or standby, fuel and handling logistics and any permits. We do not invent a number before operators price your dates.

Send the mission and we start checking suitable licensed operators immediately. Realistic response depends on the region and time of day — mature offshore bases can often answer the same working day, while remote mining regions may take longer because aircraft and crews are committed to existing programmes. Nobody can promise an aircraft before SkyMatch confirms it.

No. SkyMatch is an independent helicopter sourcing and coordination platform. SkyMatch does not own or operate aircraft. Flights are performed by independent licensed operators, and final aircraft, crew, availability, price, route, payload, permits, landing or deck approval and operational feasibility are confirmed by the performing operator and the relevant installation, site or client authority.
