Four London-area gateways, the venue pads they reach, and an honest read on which airports lift rotary from the field and which need a short car leg to a heliport first.
Heathrow is the arrival point for most international event guests, but it does not handle general-aviation helicopter movements. The working pattern is a short chauffeur leg to Northolt, Battersea or Denham, then a 10–30 minute flight into the venue pad.
Gatwick handles rotary movements through its general-aviation terminal, which makes it the cleanest South-East connection for Sussex and Surrey events — Goodwood is 20 minutes away, Epsom 15.
London City is the fastest airport into the capital and the slowest into a helicopter: the field is fixed-wing only, so the pattern is a 20-minute run to Battersea or a 30-minute run to Biggin Hill, then the flight.
Stansted's general-aviation side handles rotary alongside the jets, which makes it the practical northern gateway for Silverstone and the Newmarket racing calendar — and the airport most private groups underuse.
