Most Mykonos villa arrivals fly Athens–Mykonos by helicopter and complete the last few kilometres by car. Private pads exist on a handful of estates on the Agios Lazaros, Aleomandra and Kalafatis side, but they are the exception rather than the rule.
Can you reach a villa here by helicopter?
Yes — in practice via Mykonos Airport (JMK), about 40 minutes from Athens International (ATH). The road or ferry alternative is ferry from rafina or piraeus, 2h30–5h plus port transfers.
Direct landing at a private property is only possible subject to landing permissions, suitable landing infrastructure, local regulation and operator approval. Where it is not available, we fly to the nearest approved helipad or airport and coordinate the final leg by car or tender.
Practical notes for estate arrivals
- Villa pads in the Cyclades require a site survey and prior authorisation; assume airport arrival unless the estate manager confirms otherwise.
- August afternoon meltemi winds regularly move departures to the early morning or late evening.
- Luggage is the usual constraint on a light twin — declare bag count and dimensions with the enquiry.
- Season: June–September peak; slot pressure around August and Greek national holidays.
- Luggage and passenger count drive the aircraft choice more often than distance — send both with the enquiry.
