Corporate Helicopter Charter FAQ
SkyMatch Group is a helicopter charter brokerage and coordination platform: we source suitable independent licensed operators for business, executive and private helicopter missions. We do not operate aircraft, publish fixed prices or display current operator availability. These are the questions companies ask before sending a request, answered plainly.
Chartering for a company
What a corporate charter is, who contracts whom, and where SkyMatch sits in it.
- Can a company charter a helicopter for its executives?
- Yes. A corporate charter is a private hire of the whole aircraft for a defined mission — there is no per-seat business service. The charter contract is with the licensed operating company that holds the AOC. SkyMatch Group is a helicopter charter brokerage and coordination platform: we take the brief, source suitable independent operators and return comparable written options.
- Is SkyMatch the aircraft operator?
- No. SkyMatch does not operate aircraft. The operating company confirms the aircraft, the price, any landing approval and the go / no-go decision on the day.
- How many passengers can fly?
- Typically four to eight on the twin-engine types used for corporate work, depending on aircraft, cabin layout, passenger weights and luggage. Larger parties are flown on two aircraft or a larger type where one is available in that market.
- Can several executives travel together?
- Yes, within the aircraft’s certified seating. Some boards deliberately split directors across two aircraft as a governance precaution — tell us if that is your policy and the brief is issued accordingly.
Multi-stop days and site visits
The most common corporate mission: several appointments, one aircraft, one day.
- Can helicopters serve multiple meetings in one day?
- Yes. The aircraft is chartered for the day and waits with the party between legs rather than repositioning. How many stops fit depends on sector lengths, ground time at each stop, landing permissions, daylight and the operator's crew-duty limits — two to four business stops plus a return is typical on short sectors.
- Can a helicopter land at a factory?
- Sometimes. An off-airport landing needs the landowner's permission, a site suitable for the aircraft type, the operator's assessment and, in some countries, a regulatory approval. Where the site does not work, the plan uses the nearest licensed landing point plus a short car leg.
- Can helicopters reach mining sites?
- Frequently yes — mine and plant landing areas are common in resource regions, but they are private and operationally controlled. Site induction, PPE and a designated landing area are normal requirements, and the site owner plus the operator confirm the arrangement before the day.
- Can SkyMatch coordinate industrial site visits?
- Yes. The brief covers the sequence of sites, the ground time needed at each and the landing point type, so operators quote a programme that survives contact with a meeting that overruns rather than an itinerary that collapses at the third stop.
- Can executives travel between cities in one day?
- Often, yes — this is the core case for corporate rotary work in congested regions. Whether it fits depends on the sector distances and the meeting times; the executive travel time calculator gives an indicative comparison before you ask operators.
- Are multi-stop helicopter itineraries possible internationally?
- Yes, but each border adds customs, immigration and permit steps that affect timing. Cross-border corporate days are planned with more lead time and the operator confirms the clearances.
Airport, FBO and private jet connections
How the helicopter fits around scheduled and private aviation.
- Can SkyMatch connect a private jet with a helicopter?
- Yes. In most business-aviation markets the handover happens at the FBO or airside, subject to the airport's rules and the handling agent. Send the tail number and the jet schedule so the helicopter is planned around the actual arrival rather than the published one.
- What is the best way to travel from an airport to a remote factory?
- Where the road journey is long or unreliable and the site has or is near a usable landing point, a helicopter charter turns the transfer into a block time you can schedule against. Where the site cannot be landed at, the usual answer is a nearby airfield plus a short car leg — still faster than the full road crossing.
- Can SkyMatch coordinate ground transportation as part of the itinerary?
- Yes. Where the landing point is not the meeting address, the car legs at each end are planned into the itinerary so the door-to-door time is real.
- Can SkyMatch coordinate return flights?
- Yes, and the return should be part of the original brief. Planning it afterwards is the most common reason a corporate day runs out of aircraft, crew duty or daylight.
Timing, pricing and what changes on the day
The operational realities that decide whether a corporate itinerary works.
- How quickly can a charter be arranged?
- Established city and airport sectors are frequently workable at short notice, including same day in major markets. Off-airport landings, permits and peak event weeks need more lead time. We state the realistic window when we respond and never confirm availability that has not been verified with an operator.
- What affects corporate helicopter pricing?
- Aircraft category, flight and waiting time, positioning to and from your route, landing, pad and handling fees, and how busy the date is. The operating company sets the final figure; There is no published rate card because there is no standard mission.
- Do we pay for the time the helicopter waits between meetings?
- Yes. Waiting or standby time is charged by the operator and appears as a line item in the written offer. It is usually cheaper than repositioning the aircraft away and bringing it back.
- What happens if weather changes?
- The operator makes the go / no-go decision, and it can be made on the morning of the flight. Low cloud, wind, icing and visibility close sectors that are otherwise routine. Any corporate itinerary that cannot slip should carry a road or rail fallback — we say so when we see that risk in the plan.
- What happens after an RFQ is submitted?
- The brief is issued to operators able to fly it; offers come back with aircraft type, timings, inclusions and a total, normalised so they can be compared side by side. You approve one, the operator contracts and confirms, and changes go back through the same coordinator.
Assistants, procurement and confidentiality
Who can book, how it is documented, and how sensitive movements are handled.
- Can an executive assistant arrange the booking?
- Yes, and most corporate bookings are made this way. The assistant remains the point of contact: options are issued in a forwardable written format, changes go through the same coordinator, and invoicing is issued to the company or family office.
- Can corporate helicopter travel be confidential?
- The cabin is private and the flight is not a scheduled service, and NDAs can be applied before the brief is issued. It is not invisible: flights operate in controlled airspace and aircraft registrations are publicly observable. We plan around that rather than promising anonymity.
- Can requests be handled as a formal RFQ for procurement?
- Yes. The brief can be issued to qualified independent operators and returned as comparable offers with normalised line items, suitable for procurement review and internal approval.
- Can the same itinerary be repeated for regular corporate travel?
- Yes. Recurring routes, passenger details, landing preferences and billing arrangements are captured once and reused, so a repeat request does not restart from a blank brief.
