Fastest way from Phuket to Koh Samui

The usual Phuket–Koh Samui journey is a road transfer to a pier plus a ferry or a connecting flight, and realistically takes five to seven hours door to door. Phuket and Koh Samui sit on opposite coasts of southern Thailand. Is a helicopter faster than the connecting flight?
Usually yes door to door, because there is no check-in, no transit and no second road transfer. The scheduled flight can still be cheaper, so we quote both realities honestly.
How many passengers and bags fit?
Light twins commonly seat four to six passengers with soft luggage. Larger groups or heavy cases usually need a medium twin such as an AW139, which the operator prices separately.
