Fastest way from Manila to Palawan, El Nido and Coron

Short answer

Most travellers fly Manila to Puerto Princesa and then drive five to six hours to El Nido, or take a limited direct flight. A helicopter flies Puerto Princesa to El Nido in roughly 55 minutes and El Nido to Coron in about 35 minutes, subject to operator availability and approved landing sites.

Palawan's road network is the bottleneck. The islands themselves are close together, but the ground link between Puerto Princesa and El Nido regularly costs an entire travel day, and the ferry to Coron depends on sea state.

The two realistic options

Scheduled flight plus van or ferry

Most of a travel day

Manila to Puerto Princesa, then a five to six hour van transfer north, or a limited direct service into El Nido. Coron is reached by a three to four hour ferry when conditions allow.

Private helicopter charter

35–120 minutes depending on the leg

Direct island legs between Puerto Princesa, El Nido and Coron, or a long medium-twin leg from Manila when timing justifies it.

Typical time saving: Commonly four to six hours on the Puerto Princesa to El Nido leg alone. Times are indicative block times, not a schedule — the operator confirms the plan for your date.

What you have to plan around

  • Luggage is the most common constraint: light helicopters typically take soft bags rather than large hard cases, and the operator confirms the exact allowance against passenger weights before the flight.
  • Weather, daylight and local airspace rules can delay or cancel a rotary leg, so keep a ground or ferry fallback for time-critical connections.
  • Landing is only possible at a site the operator is permitted to use — an airport, a licensed helipad or a private site with the owner's consent and local approval. SkyMatch never confirms a landing point in advance.

FAQs

Which resorts can we reach directly?

That depends entirely on the landing sites an operator is permitted to use. Send the resort name with your dates and we will ask participating operators what is realistic for that week.
