Iceland helicopter charter — glacier landings, Blue Lagoon and highland access

Reykjavík, the Blue Lagoon, Landmannalaugar, Vatnajökull and Akureyri — glacier landings, highland access and spa transfers by helicopter.

In short

A helicopter from Reykjavík to the Blue Lagoon takes about 15 minutes and starts from €2,600 for the whole aircraft; Reykjavík to Landmannalaugar is roughly 45 minutes from €5,800, Vatnajökull about 60 minutes from €7,800 and Akureyri about 1 h 15 from €9,600. Prices are per aircraft (4–6 seats), not per seat. Iceland is the clearest case for helicopter access anywhere in Europe: the highlands are closed to ordinary vehicles for much of the year and the Ring Road turns short distances into full days.

Iceland's interior has no roads worth the name — F-tracks, river crossings and a short summer season. SkyMatch sources H125, H130 and H145 lift from independent Icelandic AOC operators at Reykjavík Domestic (RKV), with Keflavík jet connections, for glacier and highland landings, volcano and lagoon circuits, spa transfers and north-Iceland lodge access.

FAQ

Iceland helicopter charter — questions answered

How much is a helicopter to the Blue Lagoon?+

From about €2,600 one-way for the whole four-to-six seat aircraft, roughly 15 minutes from Reykjavík. Landings use approved sites near the retreat, with a short ground leg to the entrance.

Can a helicopter land on a glacier in Iceland?+

Yes, with operators certified for snow and glacier landings and where the site and conditions allow. Vatnajökull and Langjökull landings are the most common, planned around weather and visibility.

Is a helicopter the only way into the highlands?+

Not the only way, but usually the fastest. F-roads to Landmannalaugar are open only in summer and require a river-capable 4x4 and most of a day; the flight is about 45 minutes.

Can you meet a private jet at Keflavík?+

Yes. The helicopter meets the aircraft on the GA apron at KEF and continues to Reykjavík, the Blue Lagoon or a lodge without re-entering the terminal, subject to handling approval.
