Executive Helicopter Charter — New York
New York is the clearest corporate rotary market in the world, and the reason is the ground, not the air: the airports are outside the city, the meetings are on the island, and the drive is the least predictable part of a transatlantic trip.
In short
Companies charter helicopters in New York mainly to protect a fixed meeting time against the road: JFK, Newark, Teterboro or Westchester to a Manhattan heliport is a short sector against a 50–110 minute drive that can be much worse. The whole aircraft is chartered per mission. SkyMatch coordinates and sources licensed operators; the operator confirms the aircraft, the price and the go / no-go decision.
Airports and FBO gateways
- JFK
- International arrivals; general aviation and FBO handling on the south side.
- Newark (EWR)
- The New Jersey gateway — the road leg into Manhattan is the problem the flight solves.
- Teterboro (TEB)
- The default business-aviation airport for the metro; most jet-to-helicopter handovers happen here.
- Westchester (HPN)
- Serves Fairfield County and northern Westchester head offices.
- Republic (FRG)
- Long Island side, used for Nassau and Suffolk business destinations.
Where a helicopter can actually land
Manhattan is served by public heliports, not by rooftops: Downtown Manhattan (JRB) for Wall Street, East 34th Street for Midtown East, and West 30th Street for Hudson Yards and the West Side. Rooftop landings are not the norm and are never assumed. Which pad is used depends on the operator's authorisations, the pad's operating rules and hours, and the noise-abatement routings in force on the day — the operating company confirms it for your date. Weather, not aircraft supply, is the usual reason a New York sector is held.
- Downtown Manhattan Heliport (JRB) — financial district
- East 34th Street Heliport — Midtown East and the UN district
- West 30th Street Heliport — Hudson Yards and the West Side
- Kearny and Linden on the New Jersey side for Newark-area destinations
- Corporate and hospital pads in Westchester and Fairfield subject to owner permission
Business districts
- Midtown
- Banking, law and corporate head offices; East 34th Street is the practical pad.

- Served by the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, minutes from Wall Street.
- Hudson Yards
- Newer financial and media tenants on the West Side, next to West 30th Street.
- Stamford and Greenwich
- Hedge funds and corporate HQs in Fairfield County, usually flown via HPN.

Who books it, and when
Who books it
Banking, legal and private-equity teams meeting inbound principals, executive assistants protecting a same-day outbound jet, and corporate travel managers moving directors between Manhattan, Westchester and New Jersey sites.
Timing and season
Monday to Thursday, inbound 07:00–11:00 and outbound 15:00–19:00. Winter storms, low cloud and wind over the harbour close routings more often than the aircraft runs out, so an itinerary that cannot slip should carry a road fallback.
Aircraft normally used: Light and medium twins dominate the New York corporate shuttle — AW109, H135 and comparable types flown to the standards the heliports and routes require.
Questions we get about this market
SkyMatch Group is a helicopter charter brokerage and coordination platform. We do not operate aircraft and we do not publish current operator availability or prices: a licensed operating company holds the AOC, confirms the aircraft and the cost, obtains the landing permissions and makes the go / no-go decision. Every flight described here remains subject to operator availability, landing approval, weather, airspace and local regulation.
