Helicopter charter RFQ

The helicopter charter RFQ process, stage by stage.

A helicopter charter RFQ is a structured request for quotation for one specific mission — route, date, passengers, luggage and landing points — not a seat booking. With SkyMatch the cycle runs in five stages: you submit the mission, the SkyMatch team reviews and completes it, suitable licensed operators are approached with the same structured brief, the responses are compared on aircraft, block time, inclusions and terms, and the operator issues the binding confirmation. SkyMatch is an independent broker and does not operate aircraft; aircraft, availability, permits, weather suitability and final price are confirmed by the licensed operator.

SkyMatch Group helps clients request and compare helicopter charter options through a human-reviewed RFQ process. We are an independent broker, not an operator. Every request is reviewed by the SkyMatch team before suitable operators are approached.

The five-stage RFQ cycle

  1. Stage 01

    Mission submission

You send route, date and time, passenger count, luggage, purpose, flexibility, any budget range, landing or access constraints and contact details. Nothing is committed at this point.

What you get: A mission brief in one place instead of scattered messages.

Typical timing: A few minutes through the RFQ form or WhatsApp.

  2. Stage 02

    Human review and completion

David and the SkyMatch team read the brief manually, check whether the helicopter is the right tool at all, and come back on anything missing — exact pickup point, realistic timing, aircraft category, weight and baggage reality.

What you get: A complete, operator-ready brief, plus an honest note when a jet, car or split leg fits the mission better.

Typical timing: Usually the same working session; complex or cross-border missions take longer.

  3. Stage 03

    Operator sourcing

Only now are suitable licensed third-party operators approached — those that realistically fit the route, aircraft category, landing points and date, rather than a blanket broadcast.

What you get: The same structured brief in every operator's hands, so answers are comparable.

Typical timing: Depends on operator response, date pressure and mission complexity.

  4. Stage 04

    Comparison and clarification

Responses are set side by side on aircraft type, block time, positioning, waiting time, landing and handling fees, inclusions, cancellation terms and crew limitations — not just the headline number. Gaps are chased with the operator.

What you get: A like-for-like view of the relevant options with the trade-offs written out.

Typical timing: As soon as operator responses land.

  5. Stage 05

    Operator confirmation

The chosen licensed operator contracts the flight, holds the air operator certificate, aircraft and crew, and confirms availability, landing permissions, weather suitability and the final price.

What you get: A contractual confirmation from the operator — the only binding step in the cycle.

Typical timing: Once the operator issues confirmation for your date.

What makes an RFQ move faster

  • Exact pickup and landing points, not just city names — a hotel, marina, quinta or site coordinate changes feasibility.
  • Passenger count and real baggage: soft bags travel far better than hard cases, and weight drives aircraft category.
  • Date, time window and how flexible it is — flexibility is often what turns a mission from impossible to available.
  • Purpose of the flight: same-day return, site inspection, event arrival, yacht join, medical or urgent logistics.
  • Budget range if you have one, so unrealistic aircraft categories are filtered out before operators are approached.
  • Whether a jet or fixed-wing leg is acceptable on long corridors where a direct helicopter mission is not efficient.

What the RFQ never promises in advance

  • A fixed price before an operator quotes the mission — pricing is per aircraft and per date.
  • Aircraft or crew availability, which changes hour by hour on peak dates.
  • Landing permission at a private property, resort, marina or urban point.
  • Weather approval: the operating crew makes the final go / no-go decision on the day.
  • Any claim that SkyMatch operates helicopters. It does not — flights are operated by licensed third-party operators.

Helicopter charter RFQ FAQ

Is SkyMatch a helicopter operator?

No. SkyMatch Group is an independent helicopter charter broker. Flights are operated by licensed third-party helicopter operators.

Does SkyMatch connect buyers directly with operators?

No. SkyMatch reviews each request and manages the RFQ process. Suitable operators are contacted only after the mission is understood.

Can SkyMatch help compare helicopter charter prices?

Yes. SkyMatch helps clients request comparable helicopter charter options based on route, aircraft type, passengers, timing and mission complexity.

What types of helicopter missions does SkyMatch support?

SkyMatch supports VIP travel, business flights, island transfers, events, offshore missions, tourism, film production, urgent logistics and complex routes.

How does the SkyMatch RFQ process work?

The client submits a request, SkyMatch reviews the mission, clarifies missing details if needed, approaches suitable operators, and helps the client compare relevant options.

What is a helicopter charter RFQ?

A request for quotation for one specific helicopter mission. It describes route, date, passengers, luggage, landing points and purpose, and it asks licensed operators to price that mission for the whole aircraft — not a seat.

How long does the RFQ cycle take?

Simple, well-documented routes with local aircraft can move quickly, sometimes within the day. Cross-border, offshore, permit-dependent or peak-event missions need more lead time. SkyMatch works as quickly as possible, subject to operator availability.

Does submitting an RFQ commit me to anything?

No. The RFQ is a request. Nothing is committed until you accept an option and the licensed operator issues a contractual confirmation.

Why is the request reviewed before operators are contacted?

An incomplete brief produces inconsistent quotes that cannot be compared. Reviewing first means every operator receives the same structured mission, and it avoids sending an unrealistic request to the market.

Can I compare several operators on one RFQ?

Yes. That is the point of the cycle: the relevant responses are presented side by side on aircraft type, block time, inclusions and terms, so the decision is not made on headline price alone.
